True 1st edition/1st printing, Appleton.  Revised 10 years later with Barth's original ending restored, this edition (featuring publisher mandated-alterations) was never reprinted.  Unclipped DJ has wear commensurate to age, faint browning, small chipping to edges & roughly a thumb's width of paper from bottom of spine is missing, obscuring publisher name.  Brown boards clean, mild wear to edges, binding firm, text clean.  Jacket in archival Brodart.
